This training covers the role of the designated fire marshal (fire warden). You will learn about preventing fires and learn about the different types of fire extinguisher and how to use them correctly. Attending a Fire Extinguishers UTS course equips you with essential knowledge and skills to prevent, manage, and respond to fire emergencies effectively, both in the workplace and in other settings.
Course Objectives

- Chemistry of fire includes:
- Combustion
- Flash point
- Boiling point
- Vapor pressure
- Auto ignition temperature
- Flammability limits (LFL and UFL)
- Fire Tetrahedron includes:
- [Fuel + Oxidizing agent (oxygen) + sources of ignitions or heat + chain of reaction ]

- Control of fire and explosion includes:

Teaching methods will include presentations, group discussions, workshops, questionnaires, appropriate training DVD’s and case studies.
Course Outline
Day - 1
- Introduction to Fire Safety
- Understanding the importance of fire safety in the workplace
- Legal requirements and regulations related to fire safety
- Common causes of workplace fires
- Stop the chain reaction
Day - 2
- Fire Behavior and Classification
- Different classes of fires (Class A, B, C, D, and K)
- Types of fire extinguishers.
- How to use fire extinguishers ((use the pass)) system and rules for using it.
- The rating systems of fire extinguishers.
- Meaning of rating systems on fire extinguishers.
- To achieve these classes’ ratings the extinguishers must be able to put the fire out.
- Rating based on the size of the material that can be repeatedly extinguished.
- The limitation conditions of portable fire extinguishers.
Day - 3
- Fire extinguishers inspection and how to do it in your workplace.
- Fire extinguisher inspection checklist
- Visual, monthly and annually fire extinguishers inspection including hydrostatic testing.
- Reporting expired services tags and missing, damaged or used fire extinguishers immediately
Day - 4
- Fire Extinguisher Operation and Techniques
- Step-by-step procedure for using a fire extinguisher effectively
- Practical training on proper handling and operation of fire extinguishers
- Hands-on exercises simulating fire scenarios
Day - 5
- Emergency Response and Evacuation Procedures
- Developing emergency response plans
- Understanding evacuation procedures and routes
- Coordination with emergency services
- Fire Safety Best Practices
- Fire prevention strategies and best practices
- Safety protocols for handling flammable materials and substances
- Importance of maintaining a clean and organized work environment
