Major Accident Hazard Management
This 5-day course provides a practical approach to managing Major Accident Hazards (MAH) in high-hazard industrial environments. It covers major accident prevention, risk assessment, critical safety barriers, fire and explosion risks, security threats, emergency preparedness, process safety, asset integrity, auditing, and performance monitoring.
The course combines practical risk assessment methods, Bow-Tie analysis, case studies, scenario-based exercises, and an integrated MAH workshop focused on prevention, mitigation, and risk reduction.
Strengthen the ability to manage low-frequency, high-consequence events.
Improve identification and control of major accident risks and critical barriers.
Develop practical skills in MAH risk assessment and Bow-Tie analysis.
Integrate fire safety, security, process safety, and emergency response.
Learn from major industrial incidents and practical case studies.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Understand MAH principles, causes, consequences, and escalation mechanisms.
Identify and assess major fire, explosion, hazardous release, security, and loss-of-containment scenarios.
Evaluate critical safety and security barriers and their effectiveness.
Apply risk assessment, ALARP, Bow-Tie, and risk-reduction principles.
Strengthen emergency preparedness, fire/security response, and crisis management.
Develop MAH prevention plans, audit findings, corrective actions, and risk-reduction recommendations.
